Privacy Policy

Effective date: 20 February 2026

Overview

HelixOrg is a personal patient organiser for iOS. Privacy is a core design requirement. Your app data stays on your device and is not collected by the developer.

Data storage

Data entered in HelixOrg, including patient notes, tasks, NEWS2 scores, IV fluid entries, insulin entries, and investigations, is stored locally on-device using Apple SwiftData.

Data collection

HelixOrg does not collect or transmit personal data. Specifically:

  • No analytics or telemetry.
  • No external crash reporting.
  • No advertising, tracking, or profiling.
  • No cloud sync, server communication, or network requests for app data.
  • No access to contacts, location, camera, microphone, or photos.

Biometric authentication

Optional app lock can use Face ID, Touch ID, or device passcode. Biometric processing is handled by Apple authentication frameworks, and biometric data is not stored or transmitted by HelixOrg.

Data retention

Patient data remains on-device until you delete it. HelixOrg includes a configurable shift-end reminder (disabled by default; enable in Settings) that prompts you to review and clear patient data after a period of inactivity, supporting routine data hygiene at natural shift boundaries. You are encouraged to delete patient records once they are no longer needed for clinical purposes, and to use Clear All Data when rotating to a new ward or hospital.

Data deletion

Individual patients and their associated data (tasks, NEWS2 scores, IV fluid entries, insulin entries, investigations) can be deleted from within the app. To remove all data at once, use Clear All Data in Settings. Uninstalling the app also removes all stored data from the device.

Data sharing

HelixOrg does not transmit data to external services. However, the handover report and SBAR template features allow you to copy text to the clipboard or share it via the iOS share sheet. The handover view displays a prominent warning to use secure channels, and the generated text includes a reminder about sharing via Trust-approved channels. You should use your Trust's approved communication channels when sharing handover reports.

Third-party services

HelixOrg uses no third-party SDKs for analytics, ads, or backend storage.

Children's privacy

HelixOrg does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Since no user data is collected remotely, no children's data is processed by the developer.

Medical disclaimer

HelixOrg is not a registered medical device and has not been cleared or approved by regulatory authorities such as MHRA or FDA. Features including NEWS2 scoring, IV fluid references, insulin protocol guidance, and sepsis recognition tools are provided for informational and organisational use only.

Policy updates

Any updates to this policy will be published on this page with a revised effective date.
